Work to begin on N. McGregor Avenue next week

The City of Mobile is continuing reconstruction work along the McGregor Avenue corridor, with work set to begin on a project along North McGregor Avenue beginning Monday, Sept. 14.
The work, which represents a $1.4 million investment, will make improvements to the roadway from Springhill Avenue to the roundabout at Museum Drive. The improvements will include resurfacing, drainage improvements, new sidewalks, and lighting. The project was designed by McCrory and Williams, and McElhenney Construction has been contracted to do the work on the roadway.
Drivers can expect the closure of one lane of traffic at times throughout the project, and detours will be available when needed. The project will begin early next week with crews opening up the full roadway to traffic between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The work is expected to be completed by early spring 2027.
