A Jefferson County deputy sheriff is under arrest, accused of stealing thousands of dollars from another woman.
Deputy Ariana Nicole Hart, 25, is charged with first-degree theft of property, according to court records made public Thursday.
Hart was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 11:47 p.m. Sunday with bond set at $30,000. She was released at 12:18 a.m. Monday.
Her arrest and mugshot were not listed on the sheriff’s office public website until four days after her arrest.
According to charging documents, Hart is accused of stealing $2,271 in cash, as well as a cell phone, from another person on June 15.
The case was investigated by Birmingham police.
Hart is on administrative leave. It wasn’t immediately clear when that leave began, but the Jefferson County Commission on July 23 approved an extension on that leave.
Court records do not yet list an attorney to comment on Hart’s behalf. Her first court appearance is set for later this month.
Hart is one of at least five JCSO deputies arrested in 2026.
The most recent was Deputy Robert Nicholas “Nick” Lisle, who was arrested last month in Blount County on charges of human trafficking, first-degree rape, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and third-degree domestic violence/harassment.
