Dealership service departments are scheduled to replace the fractured ground terminals at no financial cost to vehicle owners. However, government safety documentation indicates that a comprehensive parts remedy will not be broadly available across the national dealer network until around March 2027. Interim notification letters are scheduled for dispatch to registered owners between late August and early September to advise them of essential precautions.
While safety agencies confirm that no crashes or injuries have been reported in connection with the ground harness defect, the extended repair timeline presents operational challenges for vehicle owners. A second concurrent action targeted improperly tightened assembly joints across a smaller batch of 2026 Maverick, F-150, and Bronco Sport models. These simultaneous actions followed a separate June recall involving 91,198 vehicles over daytime running lights that failed to dim properly.
